Holt Oil History
In 1930 William D. Holt started Holt Oil Company under the name "Crystal Oil Co." in downtown Fayetteville, NC. The company operated a few gasoline outlets and later moved into the home heating oil business. William had three sons; William Holt Jr., Charles Holt and Henry Holt. In 1958 Charles Holt joined the company as Vice President. He assisted his father in growing the gasoline outlets and securing the Gulf distributorship. In the early 60's William's youngest son, Henry joined the business and he focused on the home heating oil aspect of the company. Henry and Charlie successfully operated the business as partners for 40 plus years growing the outlets to 22 sites in four counties.
In 1986 Louis Cox joined the company as director of dealer operations and oversaw the construction of new sites. He currently serves as President. In 1989 Hannah Holt came on board and operated the company run convenience stores and spearheaded the first Subway franchise. She currently serves as Secretary. In 1992 Walter Holt joined the business and helped grow the computer networking and software side of the company. He currently serves as Vice President. In 1999 Bill Holt joined the business as a commercial gasoline account manager and later moved into the operations of the conveniences stores. He currently serves as Treasurer.
The company currently operates 10 retail convenience stores, 6 Subway franchises and leases out 11 retail convenience stores. The company has a distributorship of 3 brands: Exxon, BP and Liberty. Holt Oil Company is a third generation, family owned and operated business based in Fayetteville, NC.
